Hi visitors of my DA page! My name is Sophie and I love art. I recently moved across the country and have begun to learn more about the different cultures and arts. I also realized that not everyone supports the arts, and actually most of my friends and family have told me to pursue an alternative career goal. Though I have not given up on my dream, I refuse to. I am extremely passionate about what I do, and I am majoring in Studio Art in college and eventually pursuing a masters in Art Restoration and Conservation. Hello friends! :)
No I am not dead. I have been quite busy actually. This is really quite different for me. I have a job now, I actually have been spending more time studying for school (extremely weird for a procrastinator like me), and I have still been keeping up with my art among many other things.
In the art perspective of my life, I have begun painting with oil paints. And I have already decided that they are by far my favorite paint medium. They are so much more easier to use than water color paints and they don't dry as quickly as acrylic paints. It's AWESOME! I love that they take so long to dry, I can blend them easily and they h

Hello fellow deviants! :wave:
For the new year I decided I would practice watercolors in order to strengthen my weakness. Ironically for christmas I recieved a Stay Wet, which keeps your paint from drying for up to 6 weeks, some new paint brushes, and some block watercolor paper. I think my friends and family are trying to tell me something, haha. :) Thus I am determined to solve my watercolor problem by the end of 2012......hopefully. :)
In other news, I recently recieved the results of the Scholastic Art and Writing rewards, in which I entered five pieces. Three of those pieces won an award. The first is "My Mind Ablaze" http://riko15.dev
